Mission

Goal: To be the University’s trusted provider of timely, relevant, and unbiased information and services—supporting University leadership, strategic planning, and continuous improvement.

The mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA), reporting directly to the President, is to provide accurate and actionable institutional information to external reporting entities and to University decision-makers in support of strategic planning, policy formulation, resource allocation, accountability, and the advancement of University operations. This is accomplished by stewarding official University data, conducting analysis, performing assessment research, and producing both static and dynamic visualization reports.

Core Functions (What We Do)

  1. Institutional Research & Reporting
    Official university statistics that support presidential and university-wide strategic planning, accountability, and external federal, state, and system reporting.
  2. Dashboards & Analytics
    Interactive reports, dashboards, and trend insights that help leaders and units track progress, identify opportunities, and make decision-ready, data-informed choices aligned with University goals.
  3. Assessment & Institutional Effectiveness
    Support for institutional effectiveness, student opinion of instruction, and evidence for continuous improvement—helping units evaluate outcomes and strengthen operations.
  4. Surveys & Feedback (Coordination + Analysis)
    Survey design/administration support and analysis that translate feedback into actionable insights to inform planning, improve services, and guide continuous improvement.

Data Integrity & Professional Standards

OIRA has access to confidential University data regarding the campus, personnel, and students. Maintaining trust in how these data are handled is foundational to our work. OIRA adheres to the accepted Code of Ethics for the institutional research profession and applies appropriate privacy, security, and data governance practices.

How We Add Value

OIRA helps the University set direction, measure progress, and tell its story with evidence by:

  • aligning institutional metrics to University priorities and strategic goals,
  • ensuring “one source of truth” for official numbers used internally and externally,
  • translating complex data into decision-ready insights for leaders and units, and
