Course Description

 

TCF 112 is an introductory survey of motion picture history. This course is designed for the student who has not taken previous work in the history and aesthetics of motion pictures. The course will focus on the evolution of motion picture technology, the development of the medium as a business and as a mode of artistic expression, major artistic film movements and genres, and the work of major filmmakers.

Student Learning Outcomes

 

This course is meant to give the student an introductory understanding of the history of world cinema. It will provide an understanding of the development of film as a narrative medium, of key filmmakers, films, and the main elements of film grammar.
